Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American actor and performer who started her career through smart raps that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comic perspective. Then she branched out into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first musical encounter. She was a trumpet player. Jazz, classical and hip-hop education began when she was in her teens. At college, she was studying journalism and women's studies. She even spent a short time studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. It wasn't until she began focusing on music until after she finished her studies. The track My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet in 2012. The track was later included on the album debut Yellow Ranger released in 2014. It also contained songs that were viral such as body positive Queef or the winking city tour New York Bitche$. This track was directly linked into another venture Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. A musician and author was in her portfolio, she decided to determined to pursue acting in a third project. Alongside early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she appeared in films like Neighbors 2. Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed major roles in a variety of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released by In Fina We Trust in June of the year.
